Dog Boarding Near Old Lyme: FAQ
How do you keep dog boarding guests safe and healthy?
Wiggles puts safety first in everything we do. Our local pet resort is equipped with advanced wellness technology including year-round climate control and a specialized, pet-specific air purification system. 24-hour security monitoring protects our guests day and night, and our team of caregivers are all highly trained in industry-leading pet care education courses. We maintain a sparkling-fresh environment with daily deep cleans with veterinarian-approved products, as well as continual spot cleaning throughout the day. If your pup is participating in group play, we’ll carefully choose the right playmates for him or her, and group sizes are kept at an ideal staff-to-dogs ratio for maximum safety and supervision. If you have any other questions about our safe dog boarding near Old Lyme, please reach out to us.
What vaccinations are required for dog boarding?
For the safety and health of all our furry visitors, we require proof of current vaccination for rabies, the distemper combo, and Bordetella. We highly recommend the vaccinations for canine influenza and leptospirosis as well.
Additionally, the state of Connecticut requires us to have a copy of your town dog license and rabies certificate on file.
Are reservations required for dog boarding?
Because safety is so important to us, we always want to schedule the right amount of staff for the expected number of dogs every day. For this reason, we do require reservations for our dog boarding near Old Lyme, and we always do our best to accommodate short-notice requests. Please call to get your reservation started.
How do I make a reservation?
Please give us a call at (860) 349-8493 to speak with a knowledgeable member of our Reservations team. They’ll walk you through the reservation process and answer any questions you may have.
My pet isn’t spayed or neutered. Can they still come to Wiggles?
Yes, we’re happy to provide quality dog boarding for intact pets. Any pets who aren’t spayed or neutered by 8 months old will receive personal, one-on-one playtimes instead of group play.
However, we’re not able to accommodate females who are nearing, in, or just out of their heat cycle for their own safety.
What are your dog boarding drop off/pick up hours?
Pet parents are welcome to drop off or pick up their pets any time during our operating hours, which are:
- Monday – Friday: 7 AM to 6 PM
- Saturday: 10 AM to 4 PM
- Sunday: Closed
However, we recommend dog boarding guests be dropped off around 10 am to 12 noon for the fastest check in process, as this is outside our morning “daycare rush.”
What do I need to bring?
Wiggles Pet Resort near Old Lyme is equipped with most of the essentials and amenities your pet needs for a wonderful stay. We’ll provide private accommodations, a raised bed with soft, clean bedding, fresh water and food dishes, safe toys, and – of course – lots of love and attention.
We do ask pet parents to bring their pet’s usual food to keep them on the diet they’re accustomed to. Please bag each serving individually and label them with your pet’s name. We recommend zipper baggies!
If your pet receives medications, please bring their medicine in the original containers with clearly written instructions.
Can my multiple dogs stay together?
Of course! Our room and suite options are spacious enough for most furry siblings to enjoy their vacations together. You’ll even get 20% off nightly lodging for additional pets in the same accommodation.
Can you give my pet his/her medications?
Yes, our highly trained caregivers can provide oral and topical medications for a small fee per dose. If your pet is on multiple medications, they may benefit from our TLC Package, which includes unlimited medication administration.
Please bring all medications in their original containers with written instructions. Please do not mix any medications into your pet’s food, as all medications are given by hand by a supervisor and administered under observation to ensure the full dose is always taken.
We’re not able to provide injectable medications at this time, including insulin, but we are happy to provide a referral to a veterinarian-owned facility who can.
Is an activity package required?
Dogs depend on activity, interaction, and routine, especially when their moms and dads are away. To ensure every furry guest enjoys the best possible dog boarding near Old Lyme, we do require selection of an activity package. Please call us to hear about our activity packages in detail and see which one is right for your pup.
Can you feed my pet a special diet?
We’re happy to provide your pet’s meals exactly as instructed, and we have a microwave, fridge, and freezer available. As part of our standard care, each guest is fed twice a day in the comfort of their room or suite. If your pet needs extra feedings, or if they have a raw diet/multiple food components, a small special feeding charge may apply for the additional time and labor required.
